EMAs Fever Brings Lisbon To The Boil

With only one day to go, Lisbon is gripped by EMAs fever and the MTV.co.uk team are backstage to soak up all the excitement and bring you the latest news from the biggest awards show of the year. You can catch all the action on MTV UK from 7pm on Thursday.

As the guests, performers and huge EMAs monsters arrive at Lisbon airport, rehearsals are under way at the Atlantic Pavilion where the Awards are taking place. The venue has been transformed to reflect a trip to mythical Ithaca.

The 12th annual MTV Europe Music Awards will be hosted by Borat Sagdiyev, AKA Sacha Baron Cohen. Performances on the night come from the likes of Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Green Day, Madonna, Robbie Williams, Pussycat Dolls, Shakira and The Black Eyed Peas.

And of course, the legendary post show parties are even more exciting. One floor of the official post show party will be transformed into a spectacular contemporary vaudeville, hosted by London's darling of the entertainment scene Johnny Woo and his team.

Close to 1000 bottles of champagne will be popped to welcome guests to the party and the most accomplished local chefs working under culinary genius and Lisbonite Olivier daCosta’s supervision will ensure the Al Fresco Restaurant is first and last stop for Awards guests to enjoy gourmet delights including a spit roast and a selection of Portuguese fine wines.

A tunnel will transport partygoers from the depths of Brazilian samba to Europe’s finest clubbing experience at the Black Box where 2ManyDjs, Optimo and Koze will play.
